Free for all means free for teachers. Teachers can spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket to prep their students for success. So this year, Ibotta is donating more than $100,000 to AdoptAClassroom.org to help support underserved classrooms across the country. This donation will get 400 teachers and their 10,000 students the supplies they need for a successful school year. Learn More>

@LaraL  I don’t want to download the extension. I’ve read posts that it’s not reliable.

@Welshcar the browser extension is newer and we've been working on it extensively. Personally I've used it several times for pickup orders and never had any missing items or anything. But to each their own, ultimately this event does involve the browser extension. I encourage you to give it a go though.

Welshcar

@LaraL  Well, that sounds promising. I will give it a try, thanks.

@LaraL @I only have an iPhone. Am I excluded because I can’t download the extension? Thanks for all your help.

Good luck to those of you who use the extension.  I would assume the giveaway offer is through the extension too as I don't see it on my app.

Welshcar

@FelskyNY  it’s showing in my app

You don't have to redeem using the extension, but to unlock the offers you do have to initially perform the steps listed above.

I thought this was going to be a Walmart only offer (similar to Thanksgiving) so I am surprised that it is offered in other stores as well.

@Welshcar  I'm not seeing it yet - I'll check it out further later.

Welshcar

@FelskyNYDo you have the browser extension?

FelskyNY

@Welshcar  No I don't have the extension.

Welshcar

@FelskyNY  Neither do I but @LaraL said it has been improved upon and she uses it with no problems so I am going to give it a try.

I already had the extension installed so I did step 1 and logged in to ibotta.com. I got a pop up that said the offers would be added within an hour. Now the screen shows this message. My question is am I limited to just Target, Shipt, and HEB to redeem these offers? Or should I just wait to see what the offers show once they are added to the app?

@Welshcar  My desktop is my work computer, so I'm going to pass.

@Dean  I thought it included WM. I would wait a bit and see if it shows up.

@Dean here are the retailers that it should be available through. I'd wait an hour or so just in case, but if that doesn't change anything let me know.

@FelskyNY I downloaded the extension when I got a $5 offer several months ago, but I never use it for shopping.  I just logged in to Ibotta and got a popup that the bundle would be in my app in the next hr.

FelskyNY
Deal Master

@MelissaR   That's great - Lara had said that they had been working on it - I'm glad to see it's working so well for you.

Dean

@LaraL @Welshcar  Walmart is also shown as a retailer after I restarted the app and the offers appeared.

@FelskyNY while we appreciate more savers using the browser extension, having installed it once is what will unlock the Back to School freebies. I understand you can't use your work computer for that, but if you submit a ticket I believe we can work something out (as Welshcar pointed out from the FAQ). Ultimately it's up to you though, just want to make sure you're not feeling left out when there are options.

@Dean Ok great! Thank you for the update, I was curious what was going on there.

Oops! I went through that too fast. Walmart is Available in-store and the others are pickup & delivery. Interesting 🤔

@FelskyNY  I replied before seeing your reply about your computer is your work computer.  My sister is in the same boat.  She works from home and that is her co's loaner computer.  She uses her phone for everything else.   Too bad they didn't offer the alternative link like they did for the Thanksgiving offers.  I hope the care team can work something out for you!

FelskyNY
Deal Master

@MelissaR   Hopefully your sister can submit a ticket like Lara suggested and take advantage of this offer.  On the app, it says the offers are limited -so if people are planning on participating, I wouldn't sleep on it.

Dean

@FelskyNY @MelissaR  Have you tried logging in to ibotta.com from your phone's browser? Logging in appears to trigger the bonus addition.

LaraL

@Dean I believe it's account-based, and enabling the extension at some point is factored in. If someone is able to work around that I'd be interested to know.

FelskyNY
Deal Master

@Dean  I logged in as you suggested (from my phone) It triggers the Shopping spree bonus, but when you click on it, it says, BONUS NOT FOUND.

I actually have to work, so I'll play more with all of you later - have fun!

@Rema  I’m in the same almost-empty boat, lol.

Dean

@LaraL That makes sense since I had already installed the extension previously but wasn't logged into it while doing this earlier.

@FelskyNY I use Firefox for the majority of my web browsing so installing the Chrome extension wasn't a big gamble for me. But I understand you not wanting to take any chances with your work computer. As a former IT support specialist, I would advise against installing anything on your work computers, especially if it belongs to your employer. But there are alternatives that I can offer although they may be a bit involved to understand.

Hey kids remember thanksgiving.  Hundreds of new users who know nothing of ibotta trying to start out with extension.   All the complaining and opening multiple tickets and 10 day ticket turnaround.  I think this was the first thing I guessed The Thanksgiving deal except for BTS supplies.

I wasn't here during Thanksgiving but it sounds like those that were did learn a lot from that experience. This program has been going through months of testing and planning so hopefully it's a smoother experience for everyone.

I just placed my order using the Walmart browser extension. It looks like the offers are also on the app.  The offer has to be unlocked though the browser.  Make sure you shop early this offer is only available while supplies last.  I'll be picking up my order at 9pm

Rickibotta
Shopping Enthusiast

This promotion is exactly what I feared it would be.  Yet another attempt to coerce people to use vulnerable technology to get deals.   ibotta cant really 'work' on improving things.  It is the chrome extension approach that leaves one vulnerable.   This will be the second promotion in a month that I have to sit on the sidelines for.

@OBSHOP  Yet so tempted to wait for the WW bonus. If there is one this week. 😏

@Rickibotta no one is forcing anybody to use the browser extension to redeem the offers, if that's what you're referring to. There are alternatives to accessing the offers, we've talked about them in the comments above. I think you're being a bit pessimistic. We actively work on improving all aspects of the business, and I honestly believe this event will bring many people joy.

@Dean there is! Should start tomorrow.

@LaraL

I saw a post that said you could open up a ticket.  Everything else seemed to say you had to install the extension.  Sorry I overlooked it, can you please point me to the post above that explains how to get this offer without downloading or using the chrome extension.

LaraL

@Rickibotta yeah so you can submit a ticket, as you mentioned, and we can work with you. Here's the post Welshcar shared from the FAQ thread.

@Dean @LaraL

As mentioned in my earlier post. I used the browser extension to place my order, However same offer is available on the app.  I would suggest shopping earlier for the offer as quantiles are limited. With a 100% return. I am anticipating a decent WW. Now that you mentioned I would have preferred the BTS to be released in conjunction with the WW..

Rickibotta
Shopping Enthusiast

Yes I saw that.  And I mentioned I had.

And I did not say force.    I said coerce.

Coerce - trying to convince someone they should do something

Force - making someone do something they don't want to do

Carrot-and-stick.   You are dangling bonuses and the only direct way to get it is to use the extension.   So I agree nobody is forcing anything, but to get it you have to do the extension.

I will reach out to the care team, but I figured you would know what the alternate solution was as you typically talk to them..

@LaraL @OBSHOP  Decisions, decisions. 😩

I just placed my order at Walmart.  Pickup is scheduled between 7 pm and 8pm tonight.

Hope they have everything!

I would honestly be surprised if this event lead to them running out of items on day one. I would be very surprised.

Rickibotta

@OBSHOP

I imagine offers will be available for weeks.  So I certainly think people can wait to see if there is a WWB to stack with that.  Ibotta is trying to drive new traffic to the app, so they would not begin a promotion that would only last a few days.  The Thanksgiving promotion lasted several weeks.

LaraL
Community Manager Community Manager

@Rickibotta only requires installing the extension and signing in once, you could remove it after if you chose. If that's not possible then submitting a ticket is the way to go. At the end of the day we are a business, we are going to encourage the use of our other products in one way or another, but it's up to you all if you decide to actively use it.

I appreciate the feedback though.

@Dean

With todays purchase it will give me a good start on July's level 3 monthly bonus.

Dean

@Rickibotta  Every offer and bonus has a requirement of purchasing a single or multiple items. Everyone has a choice of whether to participate. I have chosen not to use apps that don’t have gift cards as a payment option so I miss out on those deals. I have never felt coerced or forced to use them.

mmoore01

I have ordered regular items from Walmart,com that it said were in stock, but by the time it is picked and ready for pickup, they are all gone.  I have also had issues when the associate doing the shopping can't find the item, but it was definitely in stock.

@mmoore01 ah ok, then yeah, it's absolutely possible.
