The model is necessary. They have to do bonuses like $1 for one offer or $3 for 2 offers to new users to entice them. Many high-volume people still end up doing the 20 offers for $1 or worse because they are simultaneously completing other bonuses and it makes sense to them. ibotta must track a rolling average of offers completed for users, so if they know a person does 30 to 50 offers a month, they don't need to entice them as much with lower bonus thresholds
I personally don't really set out to complete most bonuses right off the bat. It is a factor of how many offers can I use buying things I really need, and what offers can I complete to get to the bonus. I rarely get bonuses now because I have stopped buying things like drinks, toothpaste, energy/protein bars, and many other things that I have perhaps 100 or more of. So I pretty much do maybe 15 or 20 offers a month that are moneymakers or for pennies. .
YMMV. Everyone obviously has their own strategy., and what works for one may not work for another.
I am sure some get so caught up in attaining a bonus that they 'overpay' for other things in the process.
