Posting on behalf of a friend who also uses ibotta but is not a member of the community. She got the attached email saying she needs to update her phone's software to keep using ibotta but she has an iPhone 7 with iOS 14. Her father has an iPhone 6S and also got the same email. Have other people here gotten the message and know what models actually will be affected?
I use an android and upgraded in Feb. Ibotta and other apps stop putting apps on older phones. If your friend has 14 she's fine. As for her dad if he can't upgrade to 13 or better then he will lose access to ibotta since they will no longer be available on 12 and under and will need to upgrade the phone if he wants to keep using it. This happens to all apps eventually not just ibotta.
That’s good that Ibotta let people know ahead of time vs. just changing the app requirements and letting people find out by customer support tickets.
Thanks @Dana. I guess the question then is why did they send such an alarming email out to users who will not be affected? Why not send them only to users running an older operating system? And if they couldn't do that, why not say that they may be running a device that will no longer be supported instead of saying they are using a device that will no longer be supported?
