We switched to no contact Wal-Mart pick up, looking online I see a lot of items I did know they carried, with adding Ibotta items we are trying a lot if new items and making most of meals at home. But who doesn't like saving money!
@Icequeen813 most definitely in the Summer months. #'s in NY were low and I felt safer going out. As soon as the the numbers went back up, I limited my shopping in store to a quick dash in and out. Plus work was slow and I had the ability and time to shop.
My shopping definitely increased last Spring. Because of shortages in store, I increased online shopping. Over the Summer, I built up my stockpile keeping more inventory of products with longer shelf life than pre-pandemic. Since then, my shopping has decreased as I primarily buy fresh items unless there is a great deal on something we can use. The main area we are still spending more on are DIY projects.
I have to admit that my store purchases have INCREASED since I started using Ibotta Community.
I don't mind trying new products, but I only got freebies when it was free in Ibotta. Now, I combine coupons, several apps and sales to get things for free or almost free.
My closest Walmart is about 4 miles away and I go there multiple times a week, sometimes more than once in a day. But I have gotten some great deals lately from Publix and Walgreens. Target and CVS are lower on my list, but I have gotten a few from them, also.
I also find that when I am shopping, I am not eating. Snacking is one of downfalls and shopping is good exercise, especially when you are in a hurry.
I can see how someone could shop more from boredom but I haven’t had that problem. I am in my 50’s and covid scares me, I have not been inside a store unless I have no other choice. It happens occasionally because sometimes I don’t know the store is out of something I need until it’s too late. If I weren’t so old I don’t think I would worry as much and I would shop more.
I guess it depends on where you live.
I am in Florida and everything is open. Even movie theaters and, of course, Disney.
I am in my 60's. I am in pretty good health (for my age) and do everything they tell us to do: wear a mask, wash hands frequently and keep six feet away from everyone. If the store has sanitizer, I squirt some on my hands each time I come in. I wipe my cart handles with sanitizer wipes.
I haven't eaten in a restaurant yet, but they are all open. We do order takeout from a couple of our favorite places every week.
Hopefully, I will stay healthy until the vaccines are available for my age group.
@DeeJ1126, TBT, I asked this question because I retired 3yr ago from 45 yr nursing career& when the COVID-19 hit I have spent 4-5 days/ week in the gym& cruising the aisles of Walmart,Target &Publix looking for deals.... I never clipped coupons prior .... now it’s the art of the deal . I only buy what I need & when I need
