Challenge Butter repeatedly does not scan - multiple tickets opened

Hi friends!

I've had to open 3 support tickets for the Challenge Spreadable Butter offer not scanning. It's $1.25 per purchase. The offer always says, "any variety, any size." Ibotta never picks it up on my receipt from Safeway, and when I try to "Check Barcode" - it says it doesn't match. When I try to manually correct the receipt and add it, Ibotta says it doesn't match. So then I have to open a ticket.

I've had to open 3 support tickets for 3 separate purchases over the past 2 months. My last purchase I bought 2 butters, submitted a ticket for the missing $2.50, and Ibotta credited $1.25 for only one of them. I am now waiting for another response and credit for the remaining $1.25.

I don't know if anyone from Ibotta is reading this, but my ticket numbers are: #12224196 (current ticket, waiting on another response), #12165196 and #11864661 all for the Challenge Spreadable Butters not scanning. It would be nice if Ibotta could add this barcode to their database so I don't have to open a ticket every time I purchase it!

Thanks for the added context about the automatic denial when you request review. That generally means that the system is already aware that particularly UPC specifically does not match the offer. 
In this case, the 047200153303 UPC is associated with “Challenge Whipped Butter.”

Although you’re correct about the offer being for any variety, any size, it is specially for the line branded as “Challenge *Spreadable* Butter.” If the item you purchased doesn’t include the word “Spreadable,” it’s not intended for the offer—even if the CareTeam is giving you credit after the fact. Personally, if I scan/request review and they don’t approve the UPC, I simply don’t buy the item—if I’m purchasing it for Ibotta purposes.

After attempting to scan it twice, have you attempted to REQUEST REVIEW?

That is what I have done in the past, and in both instances, the product was indeed added.

@Rickibotta , YES I did request a review, and it automatically came back as denied and "not in database" - which I didn't understand. If I'm requesting a review, why would they automatically deny it?? It didn't make sense. But yes, I tried to do that, too.

I agree on all points with @SoCalHal .  I understand that the whipped is spreadable, but it is not THE spreadable.  Bad part is you can't return it.  Seems like you will have to go thru all the motions to get ibotta to grant you credit.

I also concur that if I think something SHOULD match, I don't count on it if it doesn't scan.   I also put things back.

Just the other month I went to redeem the Peet's Coffee "Medium" Roast offer. I knew that it explicitly was only good for Medium Roast any variety. 

Being set in my ways, I purchased a Dark Roast bag. Sure enough I did not get credit.

@SoCalHal ahh, thank you for the clarification about the whipped vs spreadable. The whipped butter IS spreadable but I didn't even catch that on the front of my butter. The Ibotta employees haven't caught it either because they keep crediting me after the fact. I think the "any variety" of spreadable butter throws us off.. seems not super clear.

I also do not purchase things if the barcode doesn't scan (if I'm buying for Ibotta purposes like you said) but I do actually purchase this Challenge butter regularly, anyway. So I figured it can't hurt to keep opening the tickets because I'm not out a loss if they don't credit me.

I will stop opening tickets now for this offer.
