Door Dash

Leah1
Rewards Guide

I was ordering breakfast from DoorDash, and noticed the Ibotta pop up said "up to $5 back". My entree was only $4.99, with fees and tip totaling $11. I didn't read the small print and figured I may get 50 cents back, since it said "up to". Imagine my surprise and delight after placing my order when I received a notification from Ibotta letting me know I have $5 pending!!

@Leah1   Glad you are getting $5 back - but - not throwing shade, but the fact that it costs $11 for a $5 meal is crazy!   I guess that's why Dominos was giving out restaurant gift cards to offset the cost.

@FelskyNY I absolutely agree on the add on fees. I don't often order delivery, but today is cold and blustery, and working from home, I wanted a breakfast I didn't have to cook. Since I had every intention of treating myself (and was not aware of the Ibotta bonus, so wasn't just spending money chasing money) the $5 back was a welcome surprise.

I rarely order from delivery services, but we order pizza delivery a few times a month. The upcharge is not nearly as great. Also, a tip about Domino's we recently discovered. If any part of your delivery is wrong, they will comp a free pizza to your account. Twice I requested a side of banana peppers ($1.29, so not free or I would not have complained) and when you go in the app to notify of an error, an auto-robot message comes up offering 60 points (a free pizza), 20% off, or the option of having someone call you back to discuss the issue. Free pizza for a $1.29 mistake? Okay.

@Leah1  I hear you - and a free pizza is a free pizza (especially when it's only a $1.29 mistake), whether it's from Dominos or Ibotta.  I'm glad you didn't think I was judging you in any way.  I just had no idea that add-on fees were so high, and I'm glad you treated yourself - we all need to do that every so often.  Self care is so important.

@FelskyNY no offense taken, whatsoever!  Pizza and Chinese delivery, where they deliver their own product, is not bad at all. The delivery services like DoorDash and UberEats can really up the price, very quickly. It's a convenience fee that I am willing to pay at times, for example: cold day, I'm hungry, but not motivated to either cook or get out of my pajamas and go get my own food. 🤣

@Leah1  We don't order in very often and I prefer my food to be HOT!!!!, so if we are going to, we usually do pick up.  Worst thing is waiting to get food and it comes lukewarm.

My son will get Chipotle (so I'll buy GC for that through Ibotta).

@Leah1 @FelskyNY When your delivery fee is more than the actual meal 💀💀

Ohhh, yall do GC from Ibotta to stack? That's smart. Chipotle 1%, DoorDash 2%, Domino's 4%

Wait, do they also count as offer filling for the MMB threshold?

@Hazel  Yep - they count toward the bonuses too.  A lot of people buy a few $5 WM GC, and then use them to pay so - if you are spending $20 - and you buy 4 GC - that's 4 toward your bonus.  I personally pay at the register and use "Pay With Ibotta" - Gift cards - swipe and use my Ibotta earnings, and that counts as 1 offer.  Check it out - there are many options to use your Ibotta earnings to pay.

@FelskyNY Thanks for the tip on GC. I didn't see any CVS, TGT, or SNS, I frequent those more than others. On the GC I read your steps but a little confused, is it just a digital card? How does it transact at the register? They create their GC at the time of sale and then use GC on the spot? Does it scan like paypal digital QR? I've been using the paypal debit card since these cash back apps like Ibotta and CDC are linked to paypal. Circle of transaction life lol
