Hi everyone how are you doing today

Hi y'all so I need help because I have gone back and forth with ibotta for almost 6 months now.  I had a balance of 35.00 of money that I should have received for items that I purchased that I didn't even need but I was trying to save so I figured why not stock up right? Wrong when I asked how I was to get reimbursed I kept getting the run around. I got locked out of my account so I created a new account. Long story short the would not give me my refund and when I asked for help getting access to my old account I got no help even though I emailed them my picture Id and all the info on my last account address, phone number, email etc.. associated with it.  Now I keep getting an email saying that they are deducting from my balance due to inactivity, however there's inactivity because no one helped me get back in to that account.  Does that mean they are going to take money out of my bank card attached to that old account that I can't get into when my credit funds of 35.00 that I should've received runs out? I'm so disappointed and ready to look for an attorney to help me with this. It's not about the money any longer now it's about trust and honesty. I feel violated. Any insights? thanks. Hope everyone has a fabulous day.

You might have done this already; but see below for Ibotta’s answer... I’d keep doing this all day every day until I got a reply, I’d also send via the email that’s listed. That way, you have a record of your own. Skip the attorney and submit a request to the Better Business Bureau for them to mediate. It’s easy and free to submit, and they’re quick to reply. You can do all of it from the BBB website, and Ibotta does respond to them. All of it is public record and available for everyone to read. It is eye-opening.

They take out a fee from your ibotta earnings for inactivity after 6 months and will continue to take out every month until you start using it again or it reaches zero. This is stated in the terms you should of read before you signed up. They do not take anything from your own bank account. If you were locked out you could of waited for them to unlock you not open another ibotta. People get locked out for an audit, they think you did something fraudulent, you tried to take out money as soon as you got it, you were returning items etc. Now you will have to wait longer to be helped.

@Dana I’m starting to think you work for Ibotta, especially the way you’ve perfected the art of repeating the same five things as an answer. It’s like I’m reading a reply from the help center that doesn’t actually provide any help. I’d love to know where it says we have to wait to take out earnings. If we’re supposed to wait, then Ibotta should tell us to wait, or put a hold on it for a set period of time. All of this secrecy around when and how we’re allowed to withdraw earnings, and all of the speculation about what flags an account... it’s really getting annoying and takes away from what should be a fun experience. Kindness and compassion goes a long way in this world, and it always comes back to us tenfold, just like it does when we behave the opposite way.

@godismysource74

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your Ibotta accounts.

I suspect that when you opened a new account on your phone, that's when things got worse.  Though the Ibotta rules do indicate you can have two accounts on a single device, they really don't like this.  This might be an indication of fraud.  Even if you delete Ibotta completely from your phone, they still know this device was used with another account somehow.

If your request is still open with Ibotta, I would explain (again) exactly what happened. If not, open a new request.

I think your best bet is to close the new account (assuming it has a zero balance) and reopen the old one since it still has money in it.

You can withdraw money from Ibotta three ways:

  1. Withdraw to an egift card
  2. Withdraw to PayPal
  3. Withdraw to your bank

Egift cards are the easiest.

If you have tried this, but nothing worked, it is possible your account is locked.

I believe Ibotta tries to play it safe and locks new accounts, possibly for your own safety.  If someone got into your account, they could withdraw everything and you would have nothing.  That's my thought, but I could be wrong.

Ibotta Customer Care was flooded with requests around the holidays and it was taking a week or more to get a response.  My experience lately has been better.  You should get a response back in a day or two.

When you get your old account back, check to see if they have deducted anything for inactivity.  I know someone who had this happen to them and was able to explain why they were inactive.  Ibotta credited the amount back to her account.  I can't guarantee you will get it back, but they are understanding and may.

Be patient.  Be polite.  Ibotta Customer Care has always come through for me.

@Saving4Fun  I do not work for ibotta but I have been with them since they started and I read all posts on here and other social media and I ask ibotta questions to get my answers. If someone is going to ask a question I'm going to answer it.

@Dana but you’re not really answering the question. You’re repeating things we already know, and you do it in a way that comes across as very judgmental and completely lacking any compassion. Take a look at the reply from @mmoore01. That’s the way to respond with useful and helpful information. I just joined this community a few days ago, and when I made a mistake in posting, you almost immediately replied and treated me with disrespect, I’ve seen you do it over and over again with nearly every post from a new member of the community. It’s not appropriate in anyway, and I couldn’t continue to let you go unchecked. Luckily, when you treated me this way, there were several members who posted follow-ups and some even sent me a private message to make sure I knew that your behavior was not how the rest of the community acts. If you aren’t going to offer useful information in a compassionate manner, then just don’t reply. New members should not be treated in such a condescending way. This world is hard enough right now, and you never know what someone might be going thru on the other side of the screen. Maybe she desperately needs that money to pay the electric bill or buy diapers. No matter the reason, she doesn’t need to hear you belittle her, especially when I’m certain that’s how Ibotta already made her feel. Let’s lift each other up.

@Saving4Fun  lol you're funny. I was not belittling anyone. I answer questions the people ask if you don't like it oh well. If you are new and you did something against the rules I will tell you where your post etc needs to go and report it for deletion like admin wants. you don't like it tough I'm not going to stop doing what I'm doing especially when admin thanks me for everything I do.

@Dana if I could offer a suggestion for how you might handle new members who post about joining a team - instead of calling them out in front of the whole community and tagging the moderators to ask them to delete it, try sending a private message to the new user, introduce yourself and welcome them, and then very politely let them know where they can find a list of the rules, let them know you understand they’re new and direct them to the teamwork feed. Afterwards, send the moderators a private message asking them to delete the original post.

@Dana if you can take the time to answer, you can take the time to do it nicely. If all you’re concerned about is getting kudos from the moderator, then why are you even a part of this community ?
