Is the free turkey brand specific?

I read a link posted here (sorry that I can't remember who posted it- I'm still trying to get names down) that said the turkey could be over $14, but I'm curious, does it have to be a butterball?  I saw on youtube that someone scannned a different brand and it worked for it.  I know that just because it works for it doesn't mean it's ok, though.  Does anyone know if it's Ibotta's intention that we buy Butterball or if that's just a suggestion?  I was asked this on youtube, but didn't know the answer.  My family has always been a honeysuckle white family

I checked the deal terms and conditions, and it only mentions Butterball. But looking at this also answered another question about the sides available after unlocking the bonus. New users get more Sides offers.

“To participate as a new Saver, you must: i) open the Ibotta App, website, or browser extension and create an Ibotta Account; ii) add the Offers to your list, and purchase the following products: Butterball Turkey, Bob Evans Original Mashed Potatoes or Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce, Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, McCormick Gravy Mix, and Kuner’s Green Beans – see offer details for specific sizes and flavors and additional terms – (collectively the “Qualifying Products”); and iii) scan your receipt(s) that shows the Qualifying Products if purchased in-store, or link your online grocery account.

To participate as an existing Saver, you must: i) open the Ibotta App, website, or browser extension; ii) redeem enough offers to unlock the Butterball Turkey Offer - offer requirements may be found in the Turkey bonus details; (iii) add the Butterball Turkey Offer to your list and purchase the Butterball Turkey – see Offer details for additional terms; and (iv) scan your receipt that shows the Butterball Turkey if purchased in-store or link your online grocery account. Upon completing the Butterball Turkey Offer, you will get access to the Sides bonus (the “Sides Offers”). You may then: i) redeem enough offers to unlock the Sides Offers - offer requirements may be found in the Sides bonus details; ii) purchase the following products: Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, McCormick Gravy Mix, and Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce – see Offer details for specific sizes, flavors, and additional terms (together with the Butterball Turkey Offer, the “Qualifying Products”); and iii) scan your receipt(s) that shows the Qualifying Products if purchased in-store or link your online grocery account.”

Yes the offer is given for the butterball brand turkey, as that's the offer provided rather than any turkey, as with all offers if you scan the barcode and it's a green check then it's good to go.   This is the 3rd time they've done the turkey offer and donated to feeding america and the first one was to promote Walmart delivery/pickup launch but with some glitches it was allowing different types and brands of turkey.  You can purchase a bigger expensive butterball, as they are the offer sponsor, branded turkey as it's no size limitation but you will still only get the 14$ back.  Hard to say when or how the YouTuber recieved another brand.  You can send me the link to the YouTube video ina private message if you like and I'll take a look at it.

@Dolejoriginal I've been looking for that video, but can't find it for the life of me.  I watch an obscene amount of youtube videos.  haha!  I will for sure buy a whole turkey rather than going for the cheapest option, but I was hoping to find out that Ibotta said any brand would be fine.  Wishful thinking, I know.  I do love that they're giving us $14 towards something we don't get deals on.  Thank you for responding.

@Dean Oh wow!  Good find!  I was figuring that after we bought the sides mentioned, we'd get a chance to unlock more.  I did see on IG that after we buy the turkey, we will still need to complete 4 offers.  I guess I'm in the minority...I love the challenge.  🙂
