Offer disappeared-Advice

I purchased a FAO item to meet a bonus since it would be FAO anyway, however by the time I got home that day the offer was gone. It did not have a countdown clock and I validated that the offer matched in the store. I normally scan the receipt right after leaving a store but clearly forgot this time. I asked the Care team if they would still honor the offer with pictures of the offer, item, and receipt and was told, no. Do I take this as a lessons learned experience and sacrifice almost $8 for something I would normally not buy and doubt I’ll enjoy, or return the item to the store?

Normally when I’ve screwed up it’s a smaller priced items and I’m more willing to eat the mistake. This just feels like an expensive mistake and I’m not sure what to do, advice?

Yes, $8 is definitely worth returning it if you’re not getting the rebate. I don’t see any upside to keeping it.

What $8 FAO item did you find?  

Anyway, they have always honored it if I purchased before the offer had expired.  A lot of times it has to do with how you ask and what you ask.  It is hard to give much additional suggestion without seeing the actual wording of the request or the response.   But they typically do not refuse such requests.

If this item is not required as progress for a bonus, and you don't care about it, the simplest thing is to simply return it.   But if you would like to keep it, keep working the ticket

Yes, $8 is definitely worth returning it if you’re not getting the rebate. I don’t see any upside to keeping it.

It is probably too late, but ALWAYS check Your List for the store.

Ibotta can remove an offer at any time, even without an expiration date.  FAOs are notorious for disappearing very quickly.  

Once you select or unlock an offer, it gets copied to Your List (the icon at the bottom right for each store).  Ibotta can remove the offer from the store list, but it could still be in Your List.

Personally, I would return it if you can't get your money back.

Thanks everyone, I’ll look to return the item.

@Rickibotta it was the Savory offer. I was in the next town over that offered the products. I have up on the bonus and didn’t pursue it when I saw this item disappeared and an item from another store wasn’t credited once the receipt was done processing. They fixed the latter today, but I decided not to pursue the bonus over the weekend with two hiccups back to back. I just wanted my money back for the item.

I explained what happened to the Care team, like I did in my original message here and asked if they could still honor the offer. I provided screenshots of the offer (image below) of the item (front and back) and the receipt.

Care team response:

Thanks for contacting Ibotta Care! Unfortunately, the Savorly offer is no longer available. This can happen in response to a brand partner's request or an offer's overwhelming popularity.

I ended up taking your advice and responding back to the ticket. I wouldn’t be able to make it back to the store until today so thought I had time to try again. I also didn’t want to return a perishable item since someone here said they’d just toss it.

Happy to report that I woke up to the missing credit this morning. Ibotta made it right and I don’t have to be a weirdo returning frozen food.
