Hi I bought 2x of the Colgate Max Fresh 3 pack ($5 credit each) at Walmart along with 2x Colgate Cavity Protection 3 pack ($3 each) thinking they have 5x redemption. It turned out the 5x redemption was for the Colgate Cavity Protection, so I only got credited for one of the Colgate Max Fresh. I return the extra one and it seemed Ibotta took away the $5 credit when I checked my balance again just now.
I put in a ticket offering the original receipt and the return receipt, but it's gonna take some time. I wonder if this would put my account at risk though.
Seems it doesn’t take much to trigger an account lock lately.
@kiennc2008 From what I’ve read, returning even one item can cause you to forfeit all of the credits you received on that receipt.
@SoCalHal I still got the credit for other items (Chobani products as well as 2x Colgate Cavity Protection packs). I hope the customer service rep is smart enough to see through the receipt and understand the issue.
Your account should be good.
If you are clear and concise with the ticket details, it helps a great deal. Such as
I am owed $1. I purchased two widgets, and there was an ibotta offer of $1 (limit 1). I returned one widget and you reversed the $1 credit. Please give me the $1 credit back for the widget I still have.
@Rickibotta Duh What’s a widget?... Lol
I returned something back to Walmart that I had submitted to Ibotta with other rebate items. Ibotta reversed only the item I returned.
I can't say if this is true for other merchants.
OP situation was different.
OP bought two of something with an ibotta limit of 1, and returned one of them since there was a limit1. As you and I can both surmise, ibotta's coding likely does not account for this situation due to the complexities involved. Therefore, ibotta reversed when one of the two was reversed. I am sure they will return the money if explained properly.
