Walmart Receipt Issue

I have hit a snag and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue.

I went to Walmart last night to tackle the majority of my honor roll bonus. I left feeling pleased and ready to submit my receipt so I can start planning my extra credit trip. I get home, scan receipt, see the processing icon twirling....then nothing. I try to scan again and...nothing. No worries... I'll just manually type in the TC#. Nope. It just sits and "processes" and then the processing icon dissapears and I am left on the TC# screen.

I am confused. I scan my receipt on the Walmart App and it works fine. I then decided to try my daughter's ibotta app. I don't plan to submit the receipt but just see if it will scan and go to the product review screen. It immediately says "Invalid receipt. Looks like this receipt has already been scanned". Lies. There has been no actual submission of this receipt. Then, maybe by coincidence but probably not, I get a canceled Amazon order record in my ibotta rewards activity area. It's for $0 and was done early this morning but I have not submitted anything on Ibotta for Amazon so...I have no idea what is going on. Is my receipt in some limbo between scanned and submitted? I can't know but I can't get my bonus without it and my weekend whiteboard is riding on that receipt also!

Whelp, I did all the things to try and get it to work but ended up having to put together an image of my receipt and a list of all the offers I was redeeming on the trip. I was a little scared, because of the manual entry, that the entire trip wouldn't reflect on my honor roll bonus and it would have been all for null.

To ensure there was no possible way anyone could get confused, I collected all the items, documented, and ultimately submitted a PDF with items, descriptions, photos of barcodes, quantities, screenshots of each products offers at the time of attempted submission, and total back per offer based off quantity and attaching offers. I also itemized the bonuses that should be completed/awarded for the trip and added screenshots of all of those. 

They promptly threw it all in their system and provided me not only my total earnings but also added the offer counts to my in-progress bonuses so I don't lose progress. They did end up leaving out a few of my earnings because of a few small oversights but I opened a ticket for those and I'm sure they will get them squared away quickly. 

Overall, I'm very well pleased with the outcome and so glad they got it all done in time for me to get my weekend's  whiteboard bonus...though I'm sure they probably would have still given it to me if they hadn't put it in until tomorrow or something. 

Hopefully this Walmart receipt issue was a one time thing. Thanks guys for all your feedback!

Not sure it is possible, bit it does sound like you are in limbo.

It is alarming it says it has already been used.

You need to document the particulars and open a ticket.

How long has this been>  Have you downloaded the latest app?

I know Android just got a facelift.

@Rickibotta I did update ibotta just in case that was the issue but still nothing. I don't even have history of that receipt in my activity. Just nothing. I did open a ticket and attached the receipt itself and a closeup of the TC#. As I have tried other things, like updating app and trying on daughter's app, I have updated the ticket with additional info. I would rather overload them with info than them ask a question and be waiting on me. I know I am probably being impatient... I just really wanted to make sure I got my weekend whiteboard because it was for $5 and I did over 30 ibotta deals on that trip last night to ensure I completed that bonus and the honor roll so I could plan a trip for the extra credit this coming weekend. I will have lost out on sooo much money if this receipt is out of the game forever.

As long as you keep good records, there is always a way for them to right the wrongs.  I understand your frustration.  It isn't like it is just taking a long time to review,  that would be easier to deal with.

 Did you check your activity?  Te bell in the upper right corner from the home screen.  Probably nothing there but doesnt hurt to check.  I hope you get a response sooner rather than later//

The issue you have explained I think I've encountered the same. 

  • Submitting receipts when you get an oops or something didn't seem right.  Then you are asked if you want to try again.  Don't try to resubmit just close the app and reopen. Check your account earnings. I have posted something in the forum on this issue but can't recall the title.
  • Now when you tried to scan same receipt to a different account you just keep this in mind whenever ( Ricky catches Lucy doing something he says you got some explaining to do)
  • Check earnings see if anything was picked up by ibotta, send message to Care Team to add your missing offers.

They only scanned the receipt on another device.   Did not submit or attempt to.

They were merely trying to troubleshoot.

That wouldn't cause any problems. 

I have a receipt that I scan all the time, just to get to the offers screen

If you scan a receipt on one device, but never submit it, you are stuck with that device only.  Once it knows about the receipt, you can't scan it on another device.

Sometimes the problem is with your connection.  Sometimes you need to check for a new release of Ibotta.  Sometimes you need to clear cache and restart your phone.  Then there are times when the Ibotta system is down or partially down.

Try what you can to make sure you have the latest version of Ibotta, clear the cache and restart your phone.  Take pictures of everything.  I would try to submit the receipt again on the original device.  If it doesn't work, you will have to submit a ticket to Ibotta Care.  It will take a couple of days, but you should get credit for everything.  If you bought enough to get the bonus, make sure you tell them and they should give it to you,

Please note: Ibotta Care does NOT have the ability to increase counts on bonuses, so this may be a real pain.  If you can get the app to take your receipt, you should be good.  Otherwise, you will have to keep track of all the counts for all the bonuses manually.

I hope the receipt goes through.

I had a somewhat similar issue on Wednesday. Scanned a receipt while approaching the Walmart exit. It looked like it went through for credit, but then no trace of it was found.

My offers were still in my list so I just scanned again and it worked fine. I think it might have been my phone’s signal.
