Historically the Walmart giftcard amount has gone up around April/May the last 2 years and back down around the holidays (Oct/nov). This is the highest it’s been. It was $10 and then back down to $5. When it started the min was $1.
If Ibotta doesn’t want GC to count on bonuses they could exclude them. Tell them you don’t like it. Post on their Facebook, send them emails. Don’t buy them. If they lose $$ it may change again.
If you bought gift cards with your earnings, then the cost is minimal for Ibotta. But if you bought gift cards with your debit card in the small increments of $5 each, the debit charges that Ibotta would get for each card would be quite high.
In my opinion, Ibotta should allow $5 minimums if you use your earnings, $20 minimums when you use a debit card. That way they don't get hit with so many charges.
Just a thought.
When you purchase a gift card it is considered a qualifying product as long as you use the gift card link from the home page in the app.
Ibotta changed Pay With Ibotta in May? June? Of 2020 and no longer accepted Credit Cards due to Fees. The fees associated with debit cards are much lower, don’t fluctuate and the higher the amount of the purchase the more it’s costs the business.
Because I am a Walmart Plus member and have to consider drivers tip when I order, I rarely order less than $100. So I will still buy these gift cards sometimes. But I felt that bump when it comes to little gift cards to give to my son 😔.
At least I still have a large list of favorites that are still at $5. I always use my Ibotta balance.
Kohls went up too! Ouch! That one hurts me more.
