All the Walmarts around me updated their self checkouts. Now I can't scan my Walmart gift cards in the Ibotta app like I used to.
I tried adding gift cards to my Walmart Pay, but when I paid at self checkout, I didn't get a paper receipt. I had to return the two items I bought and repurchase them.
Anyway, does anyone know how I can pay with Walmart Pay AND get a paper receipt? I miss the old Walmart computer system ☹
@LizH4011 What was different about the new SCO’s? Did they still have hand held scanners?
I recently went to a location that had different computers at the SCO. When I went to pay, it didn’t give me an option to select “gift card” as payment type (or any payment type for that matter). So I just scanned my Ibotta WM GC barcode with the hand held scanner like normal, and it worked.
If I remember correctly I think you need to pay with change first then your Walmart pay in order to produce a receipt. Like pay with a little cash or coin then rest with Walmart pay for receipt to print.
My Walmart recently installed new card/pin equipment at SCO that uses a new, presumably upgraded interface.
Similarly to my experience at Kroger SCO, once the GC is scanned, it asks for the PIN. No issues at Kroger or Walmart. Except…at Walmart yesterday the SCO I chose didn’t have a handheld scanner and the GC wouldn’t scan using the bottom scanner that scans groceries. I had the employee void the order and I moved my 5 items to another lane.
Should be able to still drop a dime in the slot first and then finish paying with WMPay and receive a printed receipt.
If after selecting giftcard and scanning the giftcard you receive an error, try backing out two screens back to where you can continue ringing up more items.
Select pay now again, and then re-select giftcard for payment, and try scanning the giftcard again. Should correct the discrepancy.
With Walmart Pay, you can get a receipt a couple of ways:
For Ibotta, you can always pull up the receipt in the Walmart app and enter then TC# manually. Unfortunately, none of the other savings apps allow this, so a receipt is needed.
There was a time when the new registers would not let you pay with Walmart Pay after paying with cash. I had to go to an actual cashier to check out and then pay with a penny to get a receipt. But the registers were updated to allow cash and Walmart Pay.
I stopped using Walmart Pay due to other issues. If I had multiple gift cards in the Walmart app, sometimes the app would get confused and not allow me to use Walmart Pay at all. They may have finally fixed this.
I had the max of 5 gift cards in my Walmart wallet. I would pay with a penny (to get a receipt) and then pay the rest with my gift cards. I also had my Walmart credit card in my wallet if the amount went over what I had in gift cards.
When I scanned the QR code on the register in Walmart Pay, the register (not the Walmart app) would come back and give me an error.
I have called Walmart Customer Support many times about this. One associate said that the 3 digit security code for my credit card was wiped out, presumably when one of the gift card balances was updated. I could never confirm this. I ended up removing my credit card, but if I didn't have enough in gift cards, the transaction would not complete. The last time I tried, Walmart Pay allowed me to pay with another payment method AFTER using up my gift cards. So, it could be fixed now, but I haven't tried.
