What is an "offer that really matters"?

Zombie

Non-relevant context: submitted a ticket last week for an offer that expired (earlier than expected based on when I checked while in store) before I got home from running errands. Ibotta Care declined to credit, which is fine. If they can't find the offer on their end, then they would just be giving me free money, which I try to avoid.)

But in the Care Team member's response they mentioned "offers that really matter" - which left me scratching my head...

What is an "offer that really matters" vs an offer that doesn't really matter..?? Thoughts anyone?

Lol!!! Idk, I got a weird response from a ticket that left me scratching my head too. They said that the offer was activated before my submission, but it wasn’t activated in my list. I have no idea what that was supposed to mean, since I activated the offer like every other offer in my list. I’ve been having a lot of issues lately, especially with Walmart. It’s getting to the point it’s almost not worth it.

Maybe it means focusing on rebates for everyday staples instead of things like keto foot powder or other products that only appear when those products are new to the market. Honestly, how many times have we bought FAOs only to complete a bonus and not because we want to try the product? I would be happy if Ibotta focused more on “offers that really matter”.

Matters to who?

I think we have to remember that we are not the only customers of Ibotta.  Ibotta is a marketing company and the retailers and merchandisers are the real customers of Ibotta.  Ibotta is a middle-man for these companies.

I enjoy Ibotta.  I am glad they are there, but we are the result of advertising.  The money is coming from the real customers.

Not sure, but I received the same wording for basically the same situation you’re in, so an auto response of sorts it seems. The thread with the message can be found here. Per others suggestion, I responded back after that and was credited.

@Zombie  Maybe not but I’m sure someone would buy it if it was labeled that way. I’ve seen cheese labeled gluten-free in big letters to entice buyers, even though cheese doesn’t have gluten.

I redeemed 8 offers and didn't receive credit for 6 of them. I opened a ticket and still waiting for a reply. I hope I don't receive anything goofy from the Care Team.  By the way the purchase was made at Walmart.
