For the last couple of months, after I submit my receipt, I’ve received the error message “Oops The receipt failed to send. Would you like to retry?” I usually click cancel to try again because the retry option doesn’t work either. On my activity and the email confirmation, Ibotta will give the message “we couldn’t find a match”.
Sometimes it takes 10-15 tries before the receipt submits successfully. It’s not so bad when the app picks up all of my rebates, but when I need to add any of them manually, it’s really time-consuming.
I’m using an iPhone. My iOS and the Ibotta app is up to date. I usually submit my receipt when I’m at home and connected to wi-fi. My account is not linked to Walmart. I’ve tried closing the app, restarting my device, turning wi-fi off and on. I have tried entering the TC# instead of scanning the barcode. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the app, and it worked the first couple of times afterwards, but then it gave me the error message again. Nothing seems to increase my chances of a successful receipt submission.
I think I also have this problem when I submit my receipt to Safeway, but I don’t shop there as often as at Walmart when I’m redeeming for Ibotta rebates.
I’ve been using Ibotta since August 2021. I usually lurk on this board, and I’ve seen a few posts similar to mine, but I don’t see that specific error message mentioned.
Is anyone else having this problem? And is there anything I can do on my end to avoid this error? I’m attaching a screenshot of the error message I receive. I’ll submit a ticket if no one has any solutions.

Wow. It sounds like you have done all the right things.
Just out of curiosity, have you tried the whole submission process with data instead of WIFI? Is there an 'airplane mode' in IOS, and if so, I assume it is turned off? And you don't have any sort of VPN or anti-malware that would interfere that you are aware of? I'm not aware of any that would do that,
Sorry I don't have a lot of great ideas here, but it seems like you have done it all just about.
I also did some searching of the whole board for things such as 'oops' and looked thru all 71 threads with hits, and I also did not see anything specifically like your issue.
Hi Rickibotta. I've been trying to submit this receipt for about 2 1/2 hours now. Airplane mode is off. I turned off location services like Icequeen suggested and also turned off wi-fi like you suggested. Still nothing. I did different combinations: location on + cellular data only, location off + cellular data only. No VPN and no anti-malware installed on the phone.
I submitted a help desk ticket because this is the worst it's ever been. Usually it takes 1 hour before it finally says "Success". But this receipt submission has been extremely time consuming today. I'll keep trying. I really want my $4.79 back for those free Real good tater tots. 😀
Do you use any other savings apps besides Ibotta? The reason I ask is because I'm curious if there's something wrong with your phone. Fetch Rewards is a simple app to use and scans any receipts without having to select offers first. It would also be a good way to test submitting receipts.

Yay! Success! After trying MULTIPLE times, my receipt finally went through.
One of the many times I tried was with the combination of location services ON and wi-fi OFF worked. Too bad this isn't consistent. It took at least 40 tries and over 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Hi Dean. Yes, I also use shopkick, fetch, swagbucks, Coupons.com and checkout 51.
Fetch works well. Sometimes I need to correct the receipt if it didn't pick up the correct item.
I've had to submit my receipt for review on Swagbucks a few times. There are times when swagbucks gives the rebate instantly.
Coupons.com works well. It has picked up my rebates successfully.
Checkout 51 sometimes asks me to clarify my total.
Shopkick sometimes gives me problems when I'm trying to submit on cellular data. I get the "Technical difficulties, try again later" error once in awhile. When I try to submit the receipt later, it states "We've seen this receipt before". So I have to submit a ticket. I don't get this error too often when I submit from home on wi-fi.
If no one else has been reporting these errors, I think you might be right and there must be something wrong with my phone. Hopefully not. I got the iPhone 12 in early 2021. Or maybe it's my carrier? I have AT&T.
