"Paypal is unavailable, but will be back soon" error. Is this an account lock?

I am a very long time user of Ibotta with dozens of withdrawals, but received this banner error after trying to cashout with PayPal for the first time today. Is this a general locked account error or is everyone having an issue with PayPal withdrawals right now?

Saipan: Thanks! So I'm not the only one with PayPal issues? Not sure if I was clear, but I've withdrawn via PayPal many times before.

I also just received the same pop up when I tapped the withdraw earnings button. The irony here is I was with someone I had referred but has been reluctant to join. So said watch how easy this is and  bam that pink pop up.

It seems to me to be a system wide issue. Only based pop up and how and when it presented itself.

Now I am curious and wonder if it’s is not a system wide issue, if there is a common thread? As I have an open customer care ticket. Anyone else?

Paypal has had a few set backs lately and their stock has suffered.

Instead of withdrawing my earnings to Paypal, I buy (not withdraw) a gift card to a store I shop regularly.

I know a lot of people were disappointed when the minimum amount to buy a gift card changed from as low as $5 to $20 or more.  But when you think about it, withdrawing requires a minimum of $20, so it's a no brainer to me.

One, you earn a percentage back when you buy a gift card.  Two, it counts towards bonuses.  Has Paypal ever paid you to use it?  And you are less likely to get a tax statement from Paypal as long as you use it less than $600 a year.

After clearing cache, it popped open as usual! YAY!!!

Works for me as well now.  Did not have to clear cache.

My previously linked PayPal account was showing as greyed out. I removed it and linked again. Still grey. Logged out/closed app. Rinse repeat- no change.

I then removed my PayPal account, logged out and deleted the app. Reinstalled the app, logged in, linked PayPal and it now works. Just made an instant withdrawal. iPhone 13 on iOS 16.0.2
